Judaic Studies Preschool
A Jewish early childhood program seeks to enable students to become curious and creative learners with a strong sense of belonging in the school community.  The goals for a Jewish early childhood setting are, in many ways, the same goals teachers have for children everywhere – they all want their children to feel safe, to develop positive self images, to love learning and to grow to be happy, productive adults.  In our school, we strive for even more.  We seek to give our children the gift of the Jewish heritage.  As Jewish early childhood educators, we have the ability to nurture within children a love for Jewish learning, a fascination with holidays and life cycle events, and a passion for approaching the world in a Jewish way.

Teaching Torah stories, rituals, lifecycle events, and holidays to young children is both exhilarating and challenging.  Torah study promises to become a favorite part of our child’s day.  Having the opportunity to be the facilitator of what is possibly a child’s first encounter with a lifetime of Torah study is an awesome experience.

The Judaic Studies curriculum for Pre-Kindergarten and Junior Kindergarten is designed to provide a hands-on, engaging and enriching experience for your children.  We use a great variety of educational techniques for learning Torah such as song, dance, arts and crafts, story-telling, and integration with general studies lessons.  Student learning goes beyond specific classroom activities and reaches a deeper enduring understanding which will establish the basis for lifelong Jewish learning and living.  Curricular resources we use include the “Fingerprints”, “Chai Learning for Jewish Life”, and “Torah Alive!” curricula.
