Elizabeth Corlin, a Los Angeles native, received her bachelor’s degree in modern Jewish history from the University of Judaism (now the American Jewish University) where she helped to found a branch of Hillel, serving as both director of communications and president. A Pardes Educators Program participant, she studied at both Pardes and Hebrew University, receiving a Certificate of Advanced Torah Study and a master’s degree in Jewish education.
Lauren Eisenberg completed a BA degree, double majoring in English and Jewish Studies, in Durban, South Africa and then made aliya. She obtained her teaching certificate from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and taught high-school English. Lauren then studied at the University of California, Santa Barbara and gained her masters degree in English Administration. She is passionate about Jewish Education, and for the last 30 years has worked as an educator, administrator, programmer and fund raiser. Currently, Lauren teaches adult education classes for Congregation Ner Tamid and is also the facilitator for the Hadassah Leadership Academy.

Naomi Guy has been teaching more than 35 years, the majority of which has been in middle schools and high schools in Israel. Born in Jerusalem, she joined The Adelson Educational Campus as a Hebrew teacher in 2005. Her main goal is to teach Hebrew in Hebrew, and represent Israel and its culture to allow her students to be able to apply their Hebrew to real-life situations. Her educational philosophy is that all students love to learn, and that a teacher’s duty is to encourage them by making the teaching more interesting, challenging and meaningful for them. Ms. Guy holds a master’s degree in general and Jewish history from Israel’s Hebrew University. Additionally, Mrs. Guy spent four intensive weeks at Boston’s Hebrew College with educators from all over the United States, immersing herself in the art of Hebrew language teaching.

Hava Lurya was born in Israel, and has over 30 years experience teaching Hebrew and Judaic Studies in America and Israel. Most recently, she was a Hebrew and Judaic Studies teacher at Yavneh Day School in California. She holds a doctorate of education from University of Budapest, and her bachelors and masters are from Bar Ilan University in Israel. Her daughter will be an Adelson Upper School student. Hava has four daughters and five grandchildren. She enjoys reading, hiking and spending time with her family and friends. She is excited to be able to share her love of Israel, Hebrew, and Judaism with everyone at the Adelson Campus.
Orly Maayan has been with The Milton I. Schwartz Hebrew Academy since 2005 as a Hebrew teacher, bringing love and passion to teach about Israel and its official language to our lower school students. Ms. Maayan enriches our Hebrew programs with multi-media and hands-on learning. Born in the southern city of Eilat by the Red Sea, Ms. Maayan holds a masters degree in the science of metaphysics from the University of Sedona, Arizona, and a bachelors degree from University of Lexington. She is also a member of the ATA (American Translators Association) and a Reiki Master. She has two amazing children in Las Vegas, two dogs and a cat.
Justin Sakofs received his MA from Hebrew College in Boston. He undergraduate degree is from Toronto’s McGill University’s Faculty of Education, where he specialized in Jewish Education. He brings his expertise in Bible and the history of its interpretation to connect with students and find their place within history. Previously, he worked at the Striar Hebrew Academy of Sharon, Massachusettes, Montreal’s Aigua School and various synagogues in Canada, Massachusettes and New Jersey.
Rabbi Yussman has an esteemed record of collaborating with top school leaders internationally, such as fellowships at the Harvard University Principals’ Center, the Bar Ilan University Principals’ Center, and the Hartman Institute of Jewish Studies. He has developed innovative Judaic Studies curricula, many of which are published and used in Jewish day schools throughout America. Rabbi Yussman deems his Israeli army service to be one of his proudest accomplishments. He holds a bachelors in Psychology from Boston University, a masters in Jewish education from Hebrew University of Jerusalem, he was ordained by Rabbi Daniel Landes at the Pardes Institute of Jewish Studies, and he is in his final year of coursework for his Doctorate in Education from UNLV. He was previously a principal and teacher at some of the finest Jewish day schools in America. He is also a proud parent of three girls in our lower school.
